How long will it take me to build a site? - back to top

This depends on the individual. Some of our members have built entire sites in an hour; others have built them over the course of several days or months. Some members update their web sites daily; others only seasonally. In other words, although you can get a basic site up and running pretty quickly, maintaining a business web site is an ongoing proposition that takes as much time as you're willing to invest.

Copying an existing web site into the ArtBeacon™ service takes just a few minutes, but again, making the site look just like you want it may take a little time.

Do I need to own a computer or have Internet access to join? - back to top

You do not need to be Internet savvy or even own a computer. However you do need to have an email address and access to a computer. If you need more information about artist requirements, please send an email to info@ArtBeacon.com.

Do I give up rights to my images if I post them on ArtBeacon™? - back to top

As the creator of your artwork you hold the copyright to your work. As part of our mission to empower artists, we continually aim to assist artists in educating themselves regarding the rights they have as entrepreneurs. Our goal is to have artists understand their rights and how to conduct business in the sale, licensing, and display of their work.In addition to facilitating the education of artists, we have created an environment that protects what artists display on their site. We actively inform our visitors that artists have copyrighted material on display and that utilizing these images without the sole permission of the artist is against U.S. and International law.

While your work looks great on ArtBeacon, the images can only be printed at their screen resolution of 72 dpi (dots per inch). This low resolution protects you. It means that if someone wished to print your images, the picture would be pixilated (blurry) and therefore not available for commercial purposes.

How much does art on ArtBeacon generally cost? - back to top
Prices vary from artist to artist and across the various types of art. You can search for artwork that best fits your price range with our Advanced Search option.

At ArtBeacon, artists determine the sale price of their work. Generally, traditional art galleries have high mark-ups to cover the cost of their space and its maintenance. Of course, ArtBeacon naturally has no gallery to maintain, so you benefit from our cost savings.

No one can guarantee the value of art in the years to come. You may be purchasing a future treasure, an item that will bring you a lifetime of enjoyment, or both.

How is the artwork packaged and shipped? - back to top
We believe that the artist is the best person to package their work to ensure that it arrives safely. ArtBeacon is dedicated to providing the best customer service possible, so we make every effort to have your purchase delivered to you as quickly and as cost effectively as possible. It is up to the individual artist to provide shipping information update policies.

It is recommended that merchants do not ship orders to a P.O. Box, but only to a street address. It may be necessary for you to sign for the work when it arrives.

How long will it take for my purchase to arrive? - back to top
Generally you will receive your purchase within 7-10 days. Please keep in mind that when ordering original art, we are working with individual artists with varying schedules, and slight delays may occur. Oversized or irregularly shaped objects may require extra time. You will receive confirmation from the artist as to when to expect your artwork to arrive.

If you have any questions, please contact the individual artist. You may also email us via the ArtBeacon™ Feedback Form.

Will my artwork arrive framed? - back to top
Most of the art offered on ArtBeacon™ is unframed. Artists consider the framing process an important component of how a work of art is presented, as the right frame both protects the artwork and complements the decor in which it is displayed. Traditionally, the owner is the best person to select a frame. Framing specialists in your area are also able to help you best select a frame.

You may also e-mail the artist through ArtBeacon and he or she may be able to suggest a frame that best suits the work you have just purchased.

What is your refund policy? - back to top
Refund policies are defined individually by each artist. Before making a purchase, review the policies page found on each artist's web site. This is where one can find an artistÅfs return policy. At ArtBeacon, we strive to provide you with the highest quality purchasing experience. We supply artists with recommended guidelines to follow in regard to return policies.

If my artwork arrives damaged, what should I do? - back to top
If the package appears to be damaged upon arrival, DO NOT OPEN IT. Review the return policy of the artist from whom you purchased the work. Contact that artist directly and work out the best means to address the damage. Please do not discard any of the merchandise or packaging materials. Depending on the value of your order, the materials may need to be inspected.

Do you offer a printed catalog? - back to top
No. Our offerings change so quickly that our catalog would be outdated before it was printed. The ArtBeacon database contains listings for hundreds of works of art. This database is growing rapidly and is updated daily. The best way to browse our artwork is directly on our site.
