Christine's paintings encompass a range of subject matter, from flowers and still life to landscapes. They are painted in both traditional and more contemporary styles, to suit a wide range of buyers.

The main media used are oils on canvas, canvasboard; also acrylic, and pastel on sanded pastel papers.

Floral subjects are selected for their colour, characteristic shapes and ability to produce intriguing abstract patterns when studied close-up. Popular works include those with poppies, roses, tulips. Much of the material comes from the artist's own Somerset garden, in the south-west of England.

Christine has included landscapes; she started painting in the 1970's, beginning with landscape and attracted to views with water, subtle lighting effects and also sharp contrasts such as found on stormy days. These continue to form her main reasons for selecting a subject to paint.

Matting & Image Sizes - The following table shows the size relationships between the actual image, and the paper that the image is printed on. All prints are printed on standard photographic size paper. Please note that image sizes are approximate and are provided to give you an idea of image to print proportions.

• Best to keep the print out of direct sun light.
• Do not dry mount print to a substrate. It will destroy the print by damaging the colors and/or make the surface shinny.
• The print should hava an acid free matte and be framed under glass.
• Liquids or humidity will damage the print.

Welcome! Thank you for visiting my store. I am a fulltime artist and have been painting most of my life. I did my first oil painting when I was 12. Although mostly self taught, I have an A.A. Degree in Fine Arts from West Valley College in Saratoga, California. I am a second-generation artist. My father, Walter Sears Milnor (1936-2001), concentrated on painting large canvases of the California missions. I am a native Californian and my greatest inspiration comes from the beautiful natural landscape. I take every opportunity to explore the amazing places around California to capture different times of day and seasons. Another favorite theme is contemporary zen (minimalist abstracts with a botanical theme, such as autumn leaves or cherry blossoms).

The following sections provide information on both original oil paintings and giclee prints.

Technical Information for Original Oil Paintings

The oil paintings have been done using Winsor & Newton's Artisan line of oil paints and mediums. Each is an original work of art, starting with a blank canvas.

There is not a lot to do to care for your painting. Do not use cleaner or solvents (you can dust it). The safest place for your painting is on the wall. We recommend that you hang it out of direct sunlight and avoid areas where the painting will be exposed to high moisture or heat.

I often sell pieces that are unframed but ready to hang. What this means is that the painting was done on a "gallery wrap" canvas and has a hanger on the back of the piece. The sides wrap around the piece (there are no staples on the edges). The sides are either painted or finished off with a coordinating acrylic paint. You can frame the piece later, if you wish. If you decide to frame or reframe your piece, please note that original oil paintings should never be framed under glass (prints can). The paint needs to breathe.

The hanger is usually a sawtooth hanger, picture wire or canvas hanger. Canvas hangers are removable, adjustable hangers that slide in between the canvas and the stretcher bar.
	Canvas hangers provide a lot of flexibility. If the hanger becomes dislodged, just slide it back in.

Caring for your Giclée Print

A Giclée (ghee-clay) is a limited edition fine art print that is the highest quality print available today. Giclée is a French word which loosely translates to "little squirt" or "to spray". The process produces exceptional museum-quality prints.

Your print has been hand-signed and numbered. The number indicates how many prints are available in that edition and the number of your print. For example, 89/250 indicates that your piece is the 89th print done from a series of 250. Once the edition size has been fulfilled, no future prints can be done in that edition.

The easiest way to frame your piece is under glass with a mat. The frame size is generally one size up from the print size to allow for the mat. For example, an 8" x 10" print would take an 11" x 14" frame with a 2" mat. You may have the piece professionally framed or purchase a ready-made mat and frame from a variety of sources, including art supply stores, craft stores, department or drug stores (Target, Walmart, Rite-Aid, etc.). There are also many good online resources, such as American Frame. If you frame the piece without a mat, you will need to fold the edges of the canvas around the backing, but that is fine too.

If you purchased this piece on unstretched canvas, you can also put the piece on stretcher bars and frame in an open frame (not under glass). This can be done at a professional framer's (although you can purchase stretcher bars and do it yourself).

After framing, the print should be protected from water and dust and should not be placed in direct sunlight. With proper care and under typical home or office lighting, the print is estimated to last 100 years without noticeable fade, outlasting some original watercolors & most lithographs.

All our 8 x 10 prints come matted ready for framing and are signed by the artist.

Timeframe:

• Day 1: As soon as I receive your order and payment, I will order the image you have requested in the appropriate size from Ofoto.
• Days 2-4 (approx): This will be shipped to me so I can review it for quality.
• Days 5 and 6 (approx): I will repackage it in the strong, hard tube or flat mailer used by Ofoto and forward it to you the very next day.
• Days 8-10 (approx): You will receive your package.

Please understand that by doing it this way you will always get the freshest print (not one that has been sitting around my house for months) and will be assured the quality is great before I ship out. I realize this takes a few days longer than if I printed at home and shipped to you, but the quality difference and care is very important to me, and my customers.

Virginia Blanca Arrisueño was born in Morristown, New Jersey in 1980, and received her BFA from the University of Maryland at College Park in May 2002. Her work was most recently featured in Viridian Artists, Inc. Fourteenth Annual National Exhibition juried by Robert Rosenblum, Curator at the Guggenheim Museum, New York City. She received first prize among hundreds of applicants. In addition, Virginia was featured in "WPAC Auction & Gala 2003 and 2004" at the Corcoran Museum, Washington, DC; "128 Portraits" at Gallery 128 in New York City; and “Anonymous” at Flashpoint Gallery, Washington, DC. She received the Sadat Art for Peace Award for the best artwork commemorating the 2001 Sadat Peace lecture delivered by Nelson Mandela and recently been included in the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities acquisition, 2003. Virginia Arrisueño currently works and resides in Washington, DC.
